Sometimes I feel like my baby is not quite human.

She grunts like a pig when hungry
Mews like a kitten in her sleep
and has Canine powers of scent.No kidding, She can smell the mama's milk from a mile away.

Example A: If she wakes up early from a nap and I try to rock her back to sleep, no way. She is up and hungry and mad. If Bryce rocks her back to sleep we can get a little more nap time in.

Example B: The other night Bryce had taken his scouts on a camp out, so I decided to just let Daph sleep in my bed. Worst idea ever. She woke up every hour and a half sniffing and snorting and sticking her tongue out trying to find something to eat. She usually sleeps 7 1/2 hours at a stretch at night.

Example C: All I have to do is tiptoe in and stand a few feet away from her crib at night and she starts rooting and sniffing around and grunting for a midnight snack. There's no way I made noise, or that she could have heard me over her noise machine if I did .

Because I am inexperienced, I don't know if she's just a normal baby using all of her senses to their greatest ability or if her furry four-legged siblings are wearing off on her.

Or maybe I need to shower more often?

It's that time of year...

When Hazel sheds A TON!


In accordance with the changing of the seasons, Hazel's internal alarm clock goes off and says' "it's time for all of your hair to fall out!"


A few weeks ago there were just a few strands here and there, you'd barely know we had a 70 lb. lab. This week, she walks through the kitchen and I have to sweep. She gets up from a the carpet and it looks like a squirrel perished there.


She's still the best dog in the world and I love her lots, but my vacuum and I are worn out!

BUSTER!

You joined our family one year ago. It took awhile for us to find the perfect name for you, and you really needed a bath. But you have been a perfect fit for us and we love you.

You are a good dog because:

1~ you keep hazel company

2~you don't shed

3~you like to snuggle

4~you don't eat very much

5~your bark isn't too yippy or annoying

6~you are our fierce protector

7~you are learning to be nice to children

8~even though you are ugly, have an under bite to boot, and smell super bad two days after I bathe you, you never let your self-esteem suffer.

9~when you have just been shaved you share a striking resemblance to FALCOR, the dog/dragon from the Never Ending Story.

The Two Best

Yesterday Bryce and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary, and in commemoration of the two best years of my life I am finally starting a blog. I suppose it's about time.

The Two Best Friends
On August 11th, 2006, Bryce and I got married in the Spokane, Washington Temple. Everyday is better than the last and we love being married!















The Two Best Years
We spent the last two years in Provo finishing school at BYU. In April we both graduated, Bryce in Biology and me in Elementary Education after completing a one year teaching internship.














The Two Best Little Houses
In Provo we lived in a tiny basement apartment, which we loved for its cozy dilapidation. Now we live in an adorable historic cottage in Indianapolis. It is definitely an upgrade from where we were.
















The Two Best Dogs
Six months ago we felt it was time to welcome an addition to our family. Hazel, our chocolate lab puppy came home with us. A few months after that we realized she needed a playmate, so Buster, the poodle/Lhasa Asa came to stay. They are the sweetest companions and they have made our life so much fun.
